Paid Familiarization vs. Unpaid Familiarization
When you recieve paid familiarization, you are compensated at a brakeman’s trip-rate of pay for the job you worked.
If you are assigned to 777 UTU-non-paid familiarization you are compensated 130-mile basic day via special claim as follows:
1.) using the trip ticket that will be declined
2.) 1B special claim
3.) Other training/familiarization
4.) Code “TE” BN Smart-TD familiarization

THIS BROADCAST IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY, NO ACTION ON YOU PART WILL BE NECESSARY BEGINNING MONDAY MARCH 24, 2014 WHEN A TRAINMAN COVERED UNDER THE NORTHERN/SOUTHERN, EASTERN/WESTERN OR COASTAL AGREEMENTS EXERCISES SENIORITY TO A JOB FOR WHICH THEY ARE NOT FAMILIARIZED, AND THE POSITION IS CURRENTLY OWNED BY SOMEONE, THAT JUNIOR PERSON WILL NOT BE DISPLACED UNTIL THE SENIOR EMPLOYEE IS FAMILIARIZED.
ONCE THE SENIOR EMPLOYEE IS FAMILIARIZED, THE DISPLACED EMPLOYEE WILL BE NOTIFIED IN THE USUAL MANNER, FOR THE PERIOD DURING WHICH THE SENIOR EMPLOYEE IS FAMILIARIZING, THE JUNIOR EMPLOYEE WILL BE SHOWN AS TEMPORARILY HOLDING THE JOB WITH A CODE OF “TVA”

one way trip of 262 miles via Port and Savage Lane or one way trip of 277 Robstown either way same pay.

If train is boarded or tied down @ Pearland in the Creek or MP 14, on the Mykawa sub. you get 22 "MS" miles plus 27 more
(for a total of 49 miles).

If train is boarded or tied down @ Alvin 5398, Brownie siding, MP27 or liquor store you get 22 "MS" miles.
(Algoa - Alvin - Algoa)
If train is boarded or tied down @ Manvel siding you get 22 "MS" miles plus 25 more (for a total of 47 miles)
(Algoa - Manvel - Algoa)
If train is boarded or tied down @ Duke siding this is an "RO" that the company is refusing to pay at the moment, currently they are paying 66 "MS" miles instead of 130 miles.
(you can take the 66 miles and run or play the waiting game on the "RO")
Galveston / Temple
one way trip of 218 miles with no flip rate, but where turned in route “MS” miles back to Galveston when outside switching limits (Galveston super pool agreement)
Galveston / Sea Drift
one way trip of 174 miles with no flip rate, but where turned in route “MS” miles back to Galveston when outside switching limits (Galveston super pool agreement)
Pearland / Sea Drift

You get to claim "MR" of 174 miles Galveston to Baycity and back (87x2) you only get one ticket claim all miles on that ticket
"MS" is not due, you get a 2-hr. 15-min deadhead ticket from Galveston to Bay City. You will NOT receive a deadhead ticket to return to the home terminal of Galveston, but you will stay on continuous time until tie-up.
Job L RDV 1911 I (Sealy local)
You get to claim "MR" of 188 miles Galveston to Sealy and back (94x2) you only get one ticket claim all miles on that ticket
"MS" is not due, you get a 2-hr. deadhead ticket from Galveston to Sealy. You will NOT receive a deadhead ticket to return to the home terminal of Galveston, but you will stay on continuous time until tie-up.

You are entitled to change your service code from, a local rate to a switcher rate of pay." (switcher rate is higher than local but you must have a list of tracks used and times you will also be required to "FE" this.)
Houston / Temple
One way trip of 213 miles, with no flip rate, but overtime after 8 hrs. on duty if turned back to Houston per Article 2(E) Houston consolidated pool agreement

"MS" of 13 miles for the following handling trains to/from Brownie siding (Houston consolidated pool article 6(B)(iv).)
Houston / Lafayette
One way trip of 231 miles to Lafayette (via Beaumont sub) return trip of 220 back to Houston, with no flip rate, but overtime after 8 hrs. on duty if turned back to Houston per Article 2(E) Houston consolidated pool agreement

"MS" of 6 miles for the following van from MP 49 to MP 46 on UPRR Baytown branch and train from MP 46 to MP 49 to UPRR Houston sub mainline. (for getting train in and out of Dayton yard).
"HO" of 25 miles for the following if you ride shove from MP 48 to MP 46 on UPRR Baytown branch to UPRR Houston sub mainline. (all that's needed is to travel over 1.1 miles not the whole 2 miles)
Houston / Smithville (non-consolidated pool)
Conductor Version A (via the Mykawa Sub) one way trip 153 miles and flip rate of 306 miles when outside switching limits
Conductor Version B (via the Glidden Sub) one way trip 127 miles and flip rate of 254 miles when outside switching limits
